Over 70 people choose to attend this presentation on a Thursday evening in Port Alberni. Haa’yuups used images from his personal collection to make his content understandable. Starting with a local petroglyph to illustrate the use of images from many years before contact to house wood panel decorations and on to more recent crest curtains as used in Nuu Chah Nulth ceremonial events. Many of the curtains depicted he had painted over the past 60 years.
The assistance of the AV Museum was invaluable in assisting with the location and technical aspects of the event and for publicity. A spirited question and answer followed the absorbing talk. A video production using two cameras captured the content.
