Hello, my name is Nick McKay. My project was completed in July 2024, and had a total of 17 people show up. I was very nervous as this was my first time teaching to a larger group. I taught participants about bear aware, fishing basics, how to find clean water sources and what tools to have in your backpack when out in the wilderness. I fed everybody lunch on my smoker and bbq, I made moose ribs, corn, potatoes, hot dogs, and burgers.
If I have another event, I would like to find other sources/sponsors because I did spend a lot more than anticipated. Overall the event had a great turnout, I’m grateful that NSG was able to fund my project and that I was able to teach the young ones how to survive in the bush.
