Macaroni Kid Abbotsford, with the support of several local businesses, put together 100 Boo Baskets to be left at random doorsteps across Abbotsford. Boo Baskets included activity kits, balloons, crackers, notepads, candy, coupons and goodies from sponsoring businesses, and more. The Neighbourhood Small Grants helped Macaroni Kid purchase locally made items and support fellow Abbotsford mom ran businesses, just like Macaroni Kid. This included a homemade ghost or pumpkin cookie from Cookies by Melissa and natural sensory dough from Hued.
Participants signed up to be one of the random 100 families through Macaroni Kid Abbotsford. They confirmed they ‘solomly swear they were up to some good’ and agreed to put together 2 more baskets to pay it forward and ‘Boo’ 2 more local families. This started a domino effect of spreading spooky fun throughout the community in this out of the ordinary year. Many families said leaving a Boo Basket was just as much fun as getting one. After all the success Macaroni Kid Abbotsford looks forward to making this an annual tradition.
