The annual MacDonald Park Block Party and Pot Luck took place on Canada Day this year. The event was very well attended, attracting neighbours from surrounding blocks and lots and lots of kids!
We enjoyed the sunshine, giant Jenga, street hockey, a Canada Day selfie booth, bike decorating and a bike parade. Ice Cream was donated by Buy Low (Fraser St).
Our community craft this year was creating an art gallery of painted wooden bees. Kids got the opportunity to paint their take on the Pollinator Pathway logo, then once the paint was dry, the art was hung on tennis court fence. All paint was donated by Cloverdale Paint (Broadway). The bees will remain in the park so kids can visit their masterpieces in years to come.
The United Way also attended and gave out great book prizes while encouraging kids to be “pay it forward” and be good citizens in their neighbourhood.
Most importantly, we spent time with our neighbours, shared a meal and made community connections.
