Our Magna Vista Community day was a wonderful success, bringing together approximately 70 community members for an afternoon filled with fun, learning, and connection.
Families enjoyed a variety of kids’ games and activities, while the local fire department shared FireSmart game ideas and information to help residents stay safe and prepared. Informational displays featured resources on FireSmart landscaping and plants, water conservation, and strategies for managing increased wildlife activity in our area following the 2023 wildfire.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of hamburgers, drinks, and treats, which helped create a friendly, picnic-style atmosphere where neighbours could relax and visit.
We were fortunate to have local musician Chris Cooke, who volunteered his time to provide live music throughout the day, adding to the warm community spirit.
The event was made possible through a Neighbourhood Small Grant (NSG), which helped cover event supplies and materials. Tents were generously borrowed from Home Hardware, providing shade and shelter for displays, activities, and guests.
Overall, it was a fantastic day that brought our community together—celebrating resilience, learning, and connection. A big thank-you to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success!
