UTown@UBC Film Club was an after-school club for the youth (age 13-18 years) to learn hands-on video and filmmaking. It was held once a week for two terms and aimed to provide a foundation in telling stories through visual images using a video camera and editing software.

The youths had opportunities to tell the stories of their community by recording a Halloween event in 2018 and the Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in 2019. They also shot a short film that got them excited about realizing their ideas on the screen. Besides the hands-on knowledge of operating cameras, the youths learned teamwork and honed their planning and communication skills.
