We were very excited to host a scavenger hunt at our 200 unit townhouse complex, Mariner’s Village on August 29th. It was a great way to meet others (outside and distanced) while exploring different areas of our large property.
We organized 15 different stations throughout the grounds. Each person was given a map and notebook/passport and was asked to collect different stamps at each station. People could walk around and complete it at their leisure. Everyone met up at the end of the day for the wrap-up outside and was given snacks and a goodie bag. Because the weather was so great many people chose to take their time and visit safely with others along the way.
The turnout was great with over 100 neighbours of all ages taking part. We had fantastic feedback from everyone about how fun the event was. They were appreciative that in these difficult times, we were able to do something as a group that allowed them to visit with others in a safe environment. It was long overdue!
I highly recommend an event like this. It was relatively easy to plan and was enjoyed by all that took part.
Here are details of the flyer that was sent out by email:
PASSPORT TO OUR MARINERS’ WORLD – ALL AGES EVENT
“Passport to our Mariners’ World” will take place this Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 10:00am-3:00pm. This is an event for all ages to come out and learn more about our special neighbourhood.
You may take part any time during the 5-hour period. Starting point is at the Rec Centre where you will pick-up a map and your passport booklet. (There is also a map of the property attached.) Arrows lead you around to find the 15 stations to stamp your passport.
Bring your stamped passport back to the Rec Centre between 3:00-4:00pm to show you’ve taken part and to collect goodies and a snack.
Feel free to participate individually, with your family or with friends. The more the merrier. Just remember to stay socially distanced!
Come out and explore and get to know our neighbourhood, perhaps meeting a few new neighbours along the way.
A special thank you to Richmond Cares Richmond Gives – Neighbourhood Small Grants for their financial support.
