With support from the Neighbourhood Small Grant Fund, members of La Petite Maison (A cooperative housing unit) in the heart of Champlain Heights gathered together to perform a community clean-up. We had a total of 43 attendees of all ages. We cleaned up garbage in the Champlain Heights trails and along Matheson Crescent. Then, the sorted items were collected into waste and recyclables. Upon completion, we joined together, enjoying a delicious potluck feast. All families that had participated in the clean-up provided drinks and side dishes.
The money provided by the Neighbourhood Small Grant Fund was used to purchase cleanup supplies as well as the main meal provided.
Sadly, we do not have images of our event, but we can say it was very successful, and there has since been more community closeness and participation in various activities involving community maintenance from the youth who had joined us on August 10th.
