Receiving the grant for the Fall season of 2022 was an exciting experience. I originally had the idea to do an art-related project, such as an art class for my neighbours to join. However, I ended up changing my mind and doing something I wasn’t too familiar with, which was pottery and planting.
Succulents are one of my favourite plants, easy to take care of, cute and anesthetic, relatively small, so they were perfect for my project. After I had chosen and brought my plants, the next thing I needed was the materials to make the pots. When I had acquired all the things I needed, it was time to start! My project idea was for me to make pots and then give them to my neighbours along with an additional pot for when the succulent outgrows its original pot. That way, my neighbours could give away some of the succulents as well.
I pretty much did this project myself, with the exception of my parents providing resources and potential pot designs. My favourite part by far was painting and finishing. Seeing all my work at once just made me so happy! I had a lot of fun, and so did my neighbours.
