Our Block Party was a huge success with over 70 attendees from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and ranging in age from 18 months to 97 years old! We had various activities planned, but because of the hot weather, the biggest hit was waterballoons! There was also badminton and streethockey, and other games for all ages. A firetruck arrived as requested, and the firemen gave an explanation of the equipment and the children were allowed to climb aboard.
While enjoying hamburgers, hotdogs and contributions from neighbours, we were able to be re-acquainted and to meet other neighbours for the first time. The sunny weather was appreciated but also meant that some elderly neighbours were reluctant to attend. Thanks to the grant, we are planning a pizza night in the fall!
