Previously,
We had saved 30 plants within the Vancouver Area. Reached out to businesses, establishing ethical practices, and growing our Facebook group to 12 members. From complete strangers in our community.
Now,
We’ve grown our rescue capacity to 40 plants and a brand new propagation operation. To stress the importance of ethical sourcement and renewable methodology. What we do is locate almost surgically from platforms like Facebook Marketplace ~ used plants, that would have otherwise been disposed of. As well as maintaining a good relationships with businesses in the community and other nurseries that have so many plants offering us discounts. As well as, sometimes offering free stock of plantlife that need to be taken off shelf!
Unfortunately, we discovered a problem. Which was that most foster locations and people had killed their plants. In order to avoid this for our plant friends. We expanded into propagating our current stock with money used to buy a greenhouse! So we reduced the number of foster locations and extended our reach digitally to create a method where people can access sustainably and more ethically sourced plant life!
This method shifts from care and relocation to care and propagation, which can give plants away faster and effectively. All the while keeping the sense of community.
With our core tenant that
“Common indoor plants can remove up to 87% of indoor air pollutants—specifically volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene—within 24-48 hours. The study suggested these plants are effective at filtering toxins in sealed environments.”
