I organized the Welcome to Summer picnic on August 30th at Jones Park. I picked Jones Park because there’s washrooms, shaded area, and playground. I invited my neighbours, friends, and my children’s classmates.
Food was a highlight of the event. I bought bread, pizza, juices, soda, salad, and snacks like biscuits, seaweed, and chips. I also baked broccoli chicken at home and brought it over. I compared prices of different stores before I made my purchases. I also asked staff from the pizza store to cut the pizzas into smaller pieces, so it would be easier for children to eat.
I bought toys for children, such as badminton rackets, frisbee, drawing supplies, etc. A lot of kids enjoyed it very much. It was a perfect summer day for family picnic.
This is my second year doing this project, and it was much better than last year! After gaining more experience from last year, I bought non-perishable snacks and beverages in advance. I also had a better idea about budgeting so I could invite more people this year.
