The Neighbourhood Small Grant allowed to create 13 winter pots for new neighbours in our area. Due to COVID 19 restrictions our annual block party had been cancelled twice this year. We are a relatively new subdivision with many new neighbours who have moved in during the last 12 months. This project allowed us to reach out to these new neighbours in a safe and lovely way. We engaged a retired florist who donated her time and talent, and many other neighbours volunteered to donate pots, and help with delivery. During the delivery process we were able to meet many of the new neighbours and chat outside with porch visits. Our new neighbours were touched by the welcome and beautiful pots. This project created a real sense of community and broke through the isolation that many are feeling due to the pandemic.
