The goal of this project was to bring Richmond youth, families, and enthusiasts together through a free, accessible community Beyblade tournament. In today’s increasingly digital landscape, recreation often isolates children, teens, and young adults behind screens and online lobbies. In contrast, Beyblade provides an engaging, tactile, and face-to-face alternative that brings people shoulder-to-shoulder around a physical arena, bridging hands-on fun with strategic thinking, practical physics, and real-time social interaction.
Thanks to the generous support of the Neighbourhood Small Grants program, we were able to completely eliminate the financial hurdles that frequently stand in the way of participating in organized community events. The grant funding went directly toward securing official tournament stadiums and prizes, allowing us to keep event registration entirely free of charge. Participants brought their own gear and custom setups to compete, while families, spectators, and neighbours could attend, cheer, and connect in a dedicated, professionally organized community space at zero cost.
