There were 7 participants in my project held in my kitchen on June 14 from 10:00 -1:30 pm. The seniors working in pairs, prepared and cooked 7 plant-based and nutritious recipes. All ingredients were also gluten-free. Everything required for the session was set out and ready to use by the participants. Cleanliness was essential, so aside from washing hands, we wore aprons and head covers made by another member. There were plenty of conversations, interactions and sharing of ideas. We shared a meal after and enjoyed all the delicious dishes. The left overs were shared and taken home.
It was a time of learning, socializing and promoting a healthy lifestyle for seniors. Friendships was forged, and the participants had an enjoyable time.
The challenge we faced was a limited space as I live in an apartment, but we managed to work around each other and alternately use the oven. We learned how to adjust and be well organized.
