Our project was an outdoor afternoon social event.  It was a Block Watch meet-and-greet get-together for the street.  We hadn’t gathered socially for quite a few years, and lots of the neighbours didn’t really know each other well.

Myself and a few other neighbours got together to arrange tents, tables, chairs, food and drinks.  We set up at the end of the street, well out of the way of any cars.

The day started out cloudy and cool, but people donned their sweaters and joined the fun.  The coffee, tea, pies and other sweets were happily gobbled up as neighbours got better acquainted.  A good time was had by all!  I am happy to report that neighbours have been chatting together and helping each other out more since our gathering.

A good variety of materials were on display from the Block Watch program.  It was a great opportunity to bring this knowledge to our little community.  This event will go a long way to promote safety on our street going forward.

Thanks so much to Neighbourhood Small Grants for your support!
