Pavan and Rashmi are from the Karnataka state in southern part of India. People in Karnataka speak the Kannada language and are known as Kannadigas. The cuisine they cook is unique and is very special to them. They hosted this workshop to share the special food with the members of the community. We used local organic vegetables for the workshop. Participants learnt to cook four classic breakfast dishes and 3 side dishes: Idli, Chutney, Sambar, Masala Dosa, Potato Palya, Paddu and Uttapam.
The workshop participants enjoyed our food and have expressed interest in learning more about it. By sharing cooking skills with others, we were able to connect with our community. After we cooked, we sat down and had a long-table style meal together.
We feel sharing food and having conversations is very important to bring about people together.
