Overview

Applications are accepted in two cycles in Britannia, Carnegie, RayCam and Strathcona:

Spring: March 7 to April 18, 2024 – Projects to be completed by October 31, 2024

Fall: September 7 to Oct 21* – Projects to be completed by December 31, 2024

*As long as funds are still available

Applications will be reviewed by the Britannia, Carnegie, RayCam and Strathcona Neighbourhood Grants Committee and Community Coordinator (Tyler).

This community’s boundaries include the neighbourhoods of: Chinatown, Gastown, Downtown Eastside, Strathcona and Grandview Woodland. Note: if you apply in this neighbourhood, you must live in within the neighbourhood and your project must take place in the neighbourhood.

Program partner

Your neighbourhood partner

Local partner organizations manage all aspects of the Neighbourhood Small Grants program. Partner organizations are where your community coordinators work. They also oversee the advisory committee, which is unique to each community that reviews your grant applications.

Carnegie Community Centre

401 Main St., Vancouver, BC

Carnegie Community Centre’s mission is to nurture mind, body and spirit in a safe and welcoming environment. Through the leadership and participation of our volunteers, they provide social, educational, cultural and recreational activities for the benefit of the people of the Downtown Eastside. All services and programs are offered free of charge for an annual membership of one dollar.

Strathcona Community Centre

601 Keefer Street, Vancouver

The Strathcona Community Centre is situated in one of Vancouver’s oldest residential neighborhoods. It is located one and a half blocks east of the central business district of Chinatown, and physically linked to the Lord Strathcona Elementary School. The Strathcona Community Centre provides a place where the community can meet, share thoughts, explore new and different avenues of recreation, socialize and become involved.

RayCam Co-operative Centre

920 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC

RayCam Co-operative Centre is located in the busy Downtown Eastside neighbourhood at East Hastings Street and Raymur Avenue. New immigrants, refugees from around the world and a multi-ethnic community of all ages are offered a wide range of recreation programs and activities. They have access to services such as a preschool and daycare, a youth room, family support programs, a computer room, a weight room, a dark room and a full-size gymnasium. This centre also boasts a diverse team of staff and volunteers, and a strong working committee of area residents.

Britannia Community Services Society

1661 NAPIER ST, VANCOUVER

The society manages a 17-acre facility in collaboration with Vancouver School Board, Vancouver Public Library Board, Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, and the City of Vancouver. Its mission is to develop, coordinate and support a wide range of excellent programs and services for Grandview-Woodland and Strathcona.
