We are on our way to building our community garden, but it didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped. The materials to make the cedar planter boxes were way more expensive than we were quoted from a year ago. We decided to get a few boxes on a clearance site we found since it was cheaper than building it ourselves. We already had permission from the strata executive, but since we now want it to be bigger, we had to get a motion passed at our AGM. We are now using the area where our old sandbox is currently; we will put it together in the spring after the harsh weather is past. We will need to apply for more grants so we can complete our project, but it’s nice to know we have a good start. I have included a picture of 1 of the 2 cedar boxes we purchased for $500.
