We held our Block Watch Celebration on August 20th from 11:30 to 2:30. As it was summertime, many sent their regrets, but we still had a good turnout with over 70 adults and children attending. Some former neighbours were there too as we invited them back to connect with us. We cooked some hotdogs and had drinks and snacks for everyone. Thanks to Jim for cooking the hot dogs! It was truly a neighbourhood event as different parties donated the use of their canopies and barbeque. Kids were seen chalking on the road and drawing on the paper covered tables. It was great to see them all!

This year, we asked the Block Watch Coordinators if we could register bikes at the event. The crew came, and they were able to register 10 bikes. We hope this will help recover the bikes if they are ever stolen. We also collected items for the Richmond Food Bank, and any leftover drinks and snacks were donated, too.

It was great to see everyone, and we also got to meet some of the new neighbours on the street. One new family came from Chicago, and prior to that, they immigrated from Mongolia. Quite the journey for them.
We had a great day creating community! Thanks to the Neighbourhood Small Grants program for the funding. Truro Drive is a great street to live on, and connecting with each other makes it a real safe community!
