We were privileged to receive a Neighbourhood Small Grant and host a dinner party and conversation about what death can teach us about life… I know it’s not your typical dinner party theme! Guests were encouraged to bring their ideas, experiences, questions, and a desire to listen and learn together. We enjoyed a meal prepared by a local restaurant. We had a beautiful evening of connection and facilitated conversation around the table. Countless stories were shared, and we held space for each other to express grief and joy. Cicely Saunders once said, “You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully but also to live until you die.” This quote formed the title of this project: You Matter Because You Are You.
